If students have an issue using your microphone in Burlington, students can test if the microphone is working properly in the following link, it will help to determine what the issue could be.

https://www.onlinemictest.com

Once the student has completed that step, the student can proceed to log into Burlington English to see if it will record their voice:

1. If the student is using the Chrome Browser:  When they click on the Microphone icon a notification will pop up to allow the use of the microphone by the web site, they will need to click on "Allow" in order to use the microphone on their device.

2.  If the student is using the Firefox Browser: When they click on the Microphone icon a notification will pop up to allow the use of the microphone by the web site, they will need to click on "Allow" in order to use the microphone on their device.

3. Is the student trying to use the microphone from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac?  The mic/pronunciation activities did not work from Safari (it said "not supported"), but did work from Firefox.  If the student is using an Apple product, advise them to use Firefox or Chrome browser from their device.

4.  Is there any message the system gives you when you try to record your voice? Depending on the browser students use, the settings change (sample screenshots below).  Students will need to check using the microphone of your headphones and not that of your webcam for example.

You can try removing the recording permission for https://app.burlingtonenglish.com

When you try to record again, the browser will ask you again which microphone you want to use. Please be sure to choose a recording volume appropriate to the sensitivity of your microphone.

If need additional support, please contact Martin Loa at martin.l@burlingtonenglish.com with information about the student's browser, type of device, and login credentials.
